On Wednesday (8th May) at 4.21 am (BST) we have the New Moon in stable Taurus. After setting our big and exciting goals under the Aries New Moon, the Taurus New Moon comes along to help us find practical ways to achieve them. This week’s blog will look at the energy around this New Moon and how you can work with it.

New Moons mark the start of a new lunar cycle. This is a time to set our intentions for the next 4 weeks, which will help us to achieve our goals. Generally, anything started under a New Moon should be completed by the Full Moon in the same sign. This gives us a 6-month container to work with. (The Full Moon in Taurus is on the 15th of November) When making New Moon Wishes, you can go as big or as small as you like. If you make a big wish, you can break it down into smaller, manageable goals. This allows you to track your progress as we move through each lunar cycle.

Not all New Moon’s are the same. They are flavoured by the zodiac sign that the Moon is in at the time and influenced by the other planets. A New Moon is always in the same sign as the Sun, giving us a double dose of the sign's energy to work with. This is why people work with this energy to set their goals.

Taurus is one of the four fixed signs, which follow the cardinal signs and essentially fix in place what has been started. These are the more stubborn and inflexible signs which make them ideal for making progress on your goals. Taurus has themes around stability, reliability and consistency, making it the ideal New Moon to commit to a course of action and find ways to be more productive. If the Aries New Moon had you talking big, then the Taurus New Moon is here to put action behind your words.

As one of the three Earth element signs, Taurus is grounded, productive, patient, determined and tenacious. The earth signs are practical and organised, and Taurus is no exception. This is the farmer of the zodiac and they understand the need to take consistent action every day to achieve their goals. This New Moon is a good time to commit to your goals. To be more flexible and productive. To have the determination of Taurus and direct that at your goals.

When setting your Taurus New Moon intentions, we can use the themes and energy of this sign to help us. Here are some questions you can ask yourself to get the most from this energy.

  1. What are my goals for the next 6 months?

  2. Where do I need to commit to a course of action?

  3. How can I be more productive?

  4. How can I improve my professional life?

  5. What makes me feel safe and secure?

  6. Where do I need to be more flexible?

There are also some practical ways that you can work with this New Moon. As an earth sign, Taurus is perfect for planting flowers, herbs or vegetables. Getting outside in nature will naturally lift your spirits. This would also be a good time to look at your diet, make a meal plan and implement any changes in your diet. As a sensual sign, indulging in self-care is also a great way to work with the energy and if you are feeling that more practical energy, then checking on your finances is also good.

This New Moon is quite a party with both Venus and Jupiter joining the Sun and Moon in Taurus. As the planet of love and abundance, Venus is making this a good New Moon for starting new relationships and allowing them to grow. Reach out to other people and find new ways to have a good time. Focus on pleasure, cooperation and comfort.

This will be a lucky New Moon thanks to Jupiter’s influence. Things like travel, study or spiritual development will be good areas. Whatever you wish for is more likely to come to fruition under this New Moon.

Not wanting to be left out, Uranus is encouraging us to break out of our regular old routines and start experimenting. We can expect the unexpected with this New Moon and Uranus will support us in shaking things up and making changes.

Saturn is also offering support with work situations. A new job or promotion could be on the cards. This New Moon will be good for creating more structure in your life.

There is a lot of earth energy around this New Moon, which will help us to make positive changes in our lives and move forward with our dreams, goals and wishes. With Mercury now travelling forward through Aries, we will be more open to new ideas and taking clear action. Make your New Moon Wishes, come up with a plan and then go after what you want.
