On Sunday, 27th April at 8.20 pm (BMT), we have the New Moon in stable and reliable Taurus. After setting our big and exciting goals under the Aries New Moon, the Taurus New Moon comes along to help us find practical ways to not just achieve them, but maintain the life we want. This week’s blog will look at the energy around this New Moon and how you can work with it.

New Moons mark the start of a new lunar cycle. This is a time to set out intentions for the next 4 weeks, which will help us to achieve our goals. Generally, anything started under a New Moon should be completed by the Full Moon in the same sign. This gives us a 6-month container to work with. (The Full Moon in Taurus will be on the 5th of November.) When making New Moon Wishes, you can go as big or as small as you like. If you make a big wish, you can break it down into smaller, manageable goals. This allows you to track your progress as you move through each lunar cycle.

Not all New Moons are the same. They are flavoured by the zodiac sign that the Moon is in at the time and influenced by the other planets. A New Moon is always in the same sign as the Sun, giving us a double dose of the sign's energy to work with. This is why people work with this energy to set their goals.

Taurus is one of the four fixed signs, which follow the cardinal signs and essentially fix in place what has been started. These are the more stubborn and inflexible signs which make them ideal for making progress on your goals. Taurus has themes around stability, reliability and consistency, making it the ideal New Moon to commit to a course of action and find ways to be more productive. If the Aries New Moon had you talking big, then the Taurus New Moon is here to put action behind your words.

As one of the three Earth element signs, Taurus is grounded, productive, patient, determined and tenacious. The earth signs are practical and organised, and Taurus is no exception. This is the farmer of the zodiac and they understand the need to take consistent action every day to achieve their goals. This New Moon is a good time to commit to your goals. To be more flexible and productive. To have the determination of Taurus and direct that at your goals.

When setting your Taurus New Moon intentions, we can use the themes and energy of this sign to help us. Here are some questions you can ask yourself to get the most from this energy.

  1. What are my goals for the next 6 months?

  2. Where do I need to commit to a course of action?

  3. How can I be more productive?

  4. How can I improve my professional life?

  5. What makes me feel safe and secure?

  6. Where do I need to be more flexible?

There are also some practical ways that you can work with this New Moon. As an earth sign, Taurus is perfect for planting flowers, herbs or vegetables. Getting outside in nature will naturally lift your spirits. This would also be a good time to look at your diet, make a meal plan and implement any changes in your diet. As a sensual sign, indulging in self-care is also a great way to work with the energy and if you are feeling that more practical energy, then checking on your finances is also good.

See that big red triangle in the middle of the chart? That about sums up the planets' influence this New Moon. Mars, the planet of drive and determination, is opposite Pluto, the planet of renewal and rebirth. As these two planets battle each other, it will bring out the best and worst of them. We can expect to face our deepest fears and desires at the same time. This is a power struggle and a rare planetary event.

Mars is currently in the show-stopping sign of Leo, bringing out our passion for life. We can be proud and self-confident with big, grand goals and go after them by the most direct route. This New Moon, watch out for impulsivity and the problems it can cause. If we act first and think later, then things might not turn out very well. Mars is warning us that things could either quickly run out of steam or spiral out of control.

Pluto is over in Aquarius, causing us to question our friendships, social structures and politics. This is a time for a major overhaul of everything associated with Aquairus, and thanks to Pluto, it might be quite shocking. This is a planet that doesn’t mess around. Profound change is possible, but it might not come in an appealing or easy way. Under this New Moon, we can go to hidden places and uncover hidden truths. Pluto is warning us that if we do that, we might get more than we bargained for.

This could be an explosive New Moon, so make sure you are clear about what you want and have a plan for getting it.
