Being in Alignment

In this week's blog I’m looking at what being in alignment actually means and how you can work with the moon to take aligned action.

Have you ever felt as if you are banging your head against a wall? You repeatedly try to reach a goal but you never seem to achieve it. Instead, you are struggling rather than moving forward and achieving your goals with grace and ease.

You are not alone. The struggle to move from what we don’t want to what we do want is, unfortunately, a fundamental struggle for many people. Believe it or not, it is very common for people to struggle against what they want and to actively limit their good.

In order to have what you want, you must be willing to end the struggle and move into action. Your success is dependent on your ability to reach your goals and achieve them.

The easiest way to move from “stuck” into action without struggle is to be in alignment with yourself and your wants, needs and desires. When you are connected to yourself right to your core and your desires are a true reflection of your inner self and soul, then you are in alignment and can take action.

Alignment means that your entire being is in agreement with the goal you want to achieve. For example, you come home from work one evening and you are very tired. But this evening is your workout night. You sit on the couch and actually have to talk yourself into getting into your gym clothes and heading out for a run. What you did in convincing part of yourself to go out for a run when part of you really wanted to rest on the couch is called alignment. You got yourself into alignment with the idea and intention of going for a run no matter how tired a part of you felt.

Unfortunately, we don’t always feel inspired and motivated to do the things we said we would. And while I will always say to listen to your body and rest if you need to, sometimes we do just need to put our big girl pants on and do the thing anyway.

When we are setting business goals, it is important that they are also in alignment with our core values and what we want to achieve through our business. We shouldn’t be setting goals based on what other people have told us is a good idea, or that this is the only way to move our business forward.

When we manifest something, we make it a part of our reality. But it doesn’t just appear, it requires us to take action. And the action we take is determined by the goals and intentions we set for ourselves.

When we work with the moon, we set out goals and intentions on the New Moon. This can work in two ways. A full Cancer lunar cycle starts on the New Moon in Cancer and ends on the Full Moon in Cancer, which is usually around 6 months. So on the New Moon in Cancer, we would set our 6-month goals. Where do you want your business to be in 6 months' time? We would also set out intentions for the next 4-week lunar cycle. Our intentions are the things that are going to help us achieve our 6-month goals.

Every New Moon we would check how things are progressing, recommit to our goals and refresh our intentions. Maybe you set yourself a 6-month goal on audience growth and during the first 4-week cycle you focused on attending networking events. In the next 4-week cycle you might choose to network online in Facebook groups.

It is important to note that at each New Moon, we are adding things into our business that move us towards our goals. On the Full Moon, we are removing things from our business. This could be limiting beliefs, doubts or habits that no longer work for us.

To end your struggle and successfully achieve your goals, all parts of you must work together for manifestation. That means all bodies- mental, physical, emotional and spiritual, must agree on a goal. There can be no doubts, limiting beliefs or attachments.

Each Full Moon you would work through any doubts you are having. Why do you not believe that you can achieve your goal? What are the challenges and obstacles that you are facing? How can you overcome them?

Look at the limiting beliefs that you have and ask yourself, is this true 100% of the time for 100% of people? I bet it’s not. You can choose to think a different way under the light of the Full Moon.

The final thing we need to let go of on the Full Moon to be in alignment with our dreams, desires and wishes, is attachment. Attachment to the outcome and the exact steps you need to take.

So often we become so focused on this is the way we have always done things, that we miss other opportunities or ways to get to the same place. Remain focused on the outcome that you want (the goal) but open yourself up to a different way of achieving it.
