Down the rabbit hole…

When I first discovered Moonology it was like falling down a rabbit hole. It all started with New Moon Wishes and meditation. Then I added in Full Moon Ceremonies and started working with the whole lunar cycle. Now I’m diving in deeper and looking at how my energy levels correlate to the moon’s journey through the zodiac and how my birth moon affects this.

Learning Astrology is really eye-opening and the thing I love the most about it is how it just explains EVERYTHING!! When people first read about the different aspects of their birth chart, they are always amazed at how accurate it is. When I first learned Astrology as a teenager, I refused to draw my own birth chart because I honestly believed it contained my whole life and I didn’t want to know, I wanted to live my life and see what would happen. I was actually in my late 30s when I had my first birth chart reading with an astrologer!!

What teenage me didn’t understand, was that my birth chart contained the keys to understanding myself. The different placements of the planets all influence a different part of my personality. By understanding my birth chart, I can understand myself better. It shows me which things I will struggle with and which things will come easily to me.

Moonology is a branch of Astrology that focuses on the movements of the moon and the law of attraction. When I first came across Yasmin Boland and her book Moonology, I was fascinated. It combined all the things I was obsessed with at the time, and I jumped at the chance to study under her and become one of her Certified Moonologers. Part of the certification course was to implement the things that I was learning. So I started with the New Moon.

Every New Moon I would do a guided meditation to tune into my intuition, my heart and my desires. Then I would write down my New Moon Wishes, turn them into affirmations and work on them until the next New Moon. After a couple of months, I added in Full Moon Ceremonies. The first time I did a Full Moon Release Ritual I cried my eyes out. I finally understood why it was so important to let go of all those old trapped emotions. I then began to work with the whole Lunar Cycle.

I also started tracking my energy, as instructed in the certification course. What I found most interesting was that around the time of every Full Moon, my autistic daughter's TA would tell me she had a bad day. Now that she is settled at secondary school with more structure and routine than at primary school, my daughter's emotions are not as strongly up and down as they were. She doesn’t have a bad day every time there is a Full Moon anymore. The moon is tied to our emotions and the Full Moon pulls those emotions to the surface. It makes sense that while my daughter was stressed from the whole school experience, she would be more emotional than normal around a Full Moon. And being autistic and not always able to recognise and control her emotional state, the Full Moon was when she would “act out”.

By tracking my energy over the past few years, I’m now able to predict more accurately which days I’m likely to want a duvet day, and which days I’m going to feel ready to take over the world!! What I find interesting now, is the extra layer my birth moon has added onto this. I’ve always believed that I’m just lazy and that's why I don’t do half the stuff I’m meant to, or the standard that other people do. But actually, it’s just the position the moon was in when I was born, and that there are actually days when I can be supermum with a sparkling clean home and a cooked meal with pudding!! I understand now that the lack of earth in my birth chart is why I’m so disorganised. And I also understand that having a structure in place is really beneficial for me. But also that, structure doesn’t work on my down days. I’m not lazy, I’m just not a robot and some days I just need to rest. And that’s okay.

This is why in my new group program the Happiness Activation Project, there is a focus on your birth moon, on your energy levels and on the things that make you unique. By using the moon as our guide we can identify when you need to take a break and when you will have the most energy to get that never-ending to-do list done. By working in alignment with your energy, we can make you more productive, freeing up more time to do the things you love and enjoy.
