On Wednesday (24th April) at 0.48 am (BST) we have the Pink Full Moon in transformative Scorpio. This week’s blog will look at the energy around this Full Moon and how you can work with it.

The Full Moon in April is named after a wildflower that would bloom around this time. Commonly known as creeping phlox or moss phlox, it was also known as moss pink. I do love the traditional names for the Full Moons which follow seasonal associations.

Full Moons mark the halfway point in a lunar cycle. This is a time to celebrate your progress and achievements, to practise forgiveness and to release anything still holding you back. If you look back to the New Moon in the same sign, 6 months ago, then you should have accomplished whatever you set out to do then. And if you haven't, then you should have a really good idea on why not.

The New Moon in Scorpio was in November, what goals did you set then? What has stopped you from achieving them? Have you let fear hold you back? Full Moons are when we start to clear out the stuff we don’t need to create space for the things we do want.

Not all Full Moon’s are the same. They are flavoured by the zodiac sign that the Moon is in at the time and influenced by the other planets. A Full Moon is always in the opposite sign as the Sun, giving us a tug-of-war between the energy of the two signs.

Under this Full Moon, we need to find a balance between over-intensity (Moon in Scorpio) and lazy contentment (Sun in Taurus).

The chart for this Full Moon looks busy, but really there’s only Pluto sticking their nose in. This is a planet that doesn’t mess around. Watch out for dark emotions, deep rage, resentment and feelings of betrayal coming up. Pluto is associated with change, power struggles and all that lies beneath the surface. This is the planet of regeneration and strength, burning it to the ground and starting again energy.

While Pluto is triggering our emotions, it is also challenging our ego (Sun in Taurus). We need to be more self-aware and let go of our need for control. Eliminating bad habits and allowing things to flow will us to have a deeper transformation and move forward without the pain and suffering.

Other things going on include Mars having a little get-together with Jupiter, Uranus and Neptune. This brings with it a high chance of success with difficult tasks, an increased desire for fun and excitement and more energy and enthusiasm over your goals. This will be a great time to make changes because they will happen quickly and easily.

It is also worth noting that Jupiter and Uranus will be meeting in Taurus, a meeting which only happens every 12 to 14 years. When the planet of expansion and luck meets the planet of rebellion and revolution, we can expect surprises and opportunities.

Full Moons are for clearing the path and doing so under this Full Moon will create the space needed for new opportunities to come in. If you can let go of your fear and doubt and the need to control everything, then you will be able to see the way through difficult tasks and make the changes you need to be able to achieve your goals.

Scorpio is one of the four fixed signs, which follow the cardinal, goal-setting signs, to keep in place the things that have been started. These are the most stubborn of the signs. They are hard-working, brave, independent and love a challenge. Scorpio has themes around transformation, complicated situations and the occult, making it an ideal Full Moon for releasing negativity and being honest with yourself. Have you been controlling, manipulative or possessive? Where do you need to release jealousy, envy, upsets and drama?

As one of the three Water element signs, Scorpio is healing, passionate, emotional, regenerative and transforming. This is the sign that likes to get to the bottom of mysteries, uncover secrets and can hold a grudge. Who do you need to forgive?

When looking at what is holding you back that you need to release under the Scorpio Full Moon, we can use the themes and energy of this sign to help us. Here are some questions you can ask yourself to get the most from this energy.

  1. What deep hurts do I need to heal?

  2. What fears do I need to let go of?

  3. How can I embrace my passions?

  4. What blocks do I have around healing?

  5. What is keeping me stuck?

  6. What blocks do I have around intimacy?

This Full Moon is a powerful time for releasing those negative emotions, and Pluto’s influence will make sure you do, even if you don’t want to.
