On Friday (15th November) at 9.28 pm (BST) we have the Beaver Full Moon in stable Taurus. This Full Moon is all about letting go of our expectations and opening up to the possibility of something bigger and better coming in. This week’s blog will look at the energy around this Full Moon, how you can work with it, and where it will fall in your chart.

Novembers Full Moon is traditionally called the Beaver Full Moon because this is the time of year when Beavers would retreat to their lodges with their food for the winter. It is also when they would be hunted for their thick winter-ready fur coats. Are you ready to retreat for the Winter?

Full Moons mark the halfway point in a lunar cycle. This is a time to celebrate your progress and achievements, to practise forgiveness and to release anything still holding you back. If you look back to the New Moon in the same sign, 6 months ago, then you should have accomplished whatever you set out to do then. And if you haven't, then you should have a really good idea of why not.

The New Moon in Taurus was in May, what goals did you set then? What has stopped you from achieving them? Have you been stubborn and trying to do things in the same way? If we want different results then we need to do things differently. Full Moons are when we start to clear out the stuff we don’t need to create space for the things that we do want.

Not all Full Moon’s are the same. They are flavoured by the zodiac sign that the Moon is in at the time and influenced by the other planets. A Full Moon is always in the opposite sign as the Sun, giving us a tug-of-war between the energy of the two signs.

Under this Full Moon, we need to find a balance between your feelings (Sun in Scorpio) and all the practical things you need to do (Moon in Taurus).

We have three big planets joining the party for this Full Moon. Uranus, the crazy planet, Neptune, the planet of dreams, and Pluto, the planet of transformation, are all offering us advice.

Uranus is currently moving backwards through Taurus giving us time to reflect on where we need to implement changes in our life. This is the planet that turns things around, often in unexpected ways. Taurus is the sign of stability, safety and security, so consider where you might be hiding in your comfort zone.

This Full Moon, something may come to an exciting but unexpected conclusion. Maybe even a happy ending. Uranus’s message is to let go of your expectations and allow the universe to surprise you with something better than you could have imagined.

Neptune is also currently moving backwards, in the last degrees of Pisces. This is bringing an energy of endings and clearing. What patterns and fears do you need to clear out? The Full Moon is an ideal time to journal around them.

Pay attention to any spiritually significant dreams and symbolic messages. Enjoy the sense of connection and oneness when your heart is open to universal love.

Pluto is also in the last degrees of Capricorn, challenging our way of thinking. Capricorn is very traditional, while Pluto is all about transformation.

This Full Moon could see positive breakthroughs in our understanding of why things are the way they are and what we can do to change them.

Taurus is one of the four fixed signs, which follow the cardinal signs and “fix in place” the things previously started. These are the most stubborn signs with an unwavering determination. They are stable and persistent, hard-working and loyal. Taurus has themes around patience, reliability and security, making it an ideal Full Moon for looking at where you don’t feel safe. Have you been taking consistent action or have you been stopping and starting? Are you letting old, outdated ideas and strategies hold you back?

As one of the three Earth element signs, Taurus is tenacious, hard-working and productive. This is the farmer of the zodiac who understands that results take time, have you been impatient? These signs can also be lazy, self-indulgent and materialistic, so during the Full Moon think about where you might be showing these less desirable traits.

When looking at what is holding you back that you need to release under the Taurus Full Moon, we can use the themes and energy of this sign to help us. Here are some questions you can ask yourself to get the most from this energy.

  1. Where am I being stubborn?

  2. What stops me from being more adaptable?

  3. What stops me from feeling safe?

  4. Why don’t I look after myself better?

  5. What is stopping me from being more productive?

  6. What is stopping me from experiencing more sensuality?

A lot of the time, we decide on a goal, and a rigid plan of how to get there. This is often based on how other people have told us to do something, or on a traditional view of how things are done. But this Full Moon is challenging that thinking. Maybe there is a different way to get the same result, or maybe we just need to let go of the tight grip we have on the desired result and allow things to flow. You never know what might happen.
