Manifesting and Goal Setting

Following my recent posts about the 12 Universal Laws, and the Law of Attraction in particular, on this week’s blog, I’m looking at manifestation and how it can be applied to goal setting and working with the moon.

To start, let’s explore what these words actually mean.

The Oxford Dictionary has a few definitions of manifest - “be evidence of” or “become apparent through the appearance of” or “appear”. So essentially, when we manifest something, it becomes real, we can see it.

It also defines a goal as “the object of a person's ambition or effort; an aim or desired result”. So when you achieve a goal, you have manifested the desired result. Is it really that simple?

The first problem here is that manifestation has become something of a buzz word and the true meaning has gotten lost along the way. Some people view manifestation as a shortcut because of the way it is presented. If you really, really want something, then it will come to you. How amazing does that sound? I just have to close my eyes and wish really hard and it will appear?? YES!!

Of course, that isn’t how manifesting works. That isn’t how life works. This isn’t a TV show where your soul mate moves in next door and you fall in love at first sight and then live happily ever after. We can’t Amazon Prime our life!! Manifestation takes time. Sometimes a long time.

The thing about manifesting is that you are doing it all the time anyway. You will receive what you ask for. If you are focused on the lack of things in your life, then you will create more lack. This is the Universal Law of Attraction and Vibration at work. And if you are already manifesting your life, then you might as well make it work in your favour right?

And this here is exactly why so many people don’t believe that manifestation actually works. They either misunderstand the Law of Attraction and believe that if they just focus all their energy on their desire it will drop in their lap and then lose faith when it doesn’t. Or they don’t actually believe that they can have the thing they are trying to manifest and this actually blocks their desire, and they give up.

My favourite phrase here is when you ask for a cake and the universe gives you the ingredients and you storm out of the kitchen because “manifesting isn’t working”.

Everything is available to you, you've just got to ask for what you want. This is sometimes a difficult process, especially if you don’t know what you want. Take some time to look at your life. Focus on the things in your life where you know it is time to grow or that you want more. Is there anything that you are tired of? Take the time to write this down and explore what your current reality is and what you want it to look like.

I find the best time to do this is around the New Moon. Once you know what you want, you can write down the things you want to manifest, otherwise known as your New Moon Wishes. Writing them down gives them power. It also gives you something to work with and something to focus on.

Between the New Moon and the Full Moon, you should focus on your wishes. But don’t just sit on your sofa and wait for the life of your dreams to fall in your lap!! You need to take action!! It’s also a good idea to keep track of any issues of conflict and resistance that come up. And if it feels like you are unable to manifest your dreams and desires, it's probably because you're not allowing them to be received.

This is where the Full Moon comes in. This is when you work through the resistance, clear the blocks, open yourself to receiving and surrender your desires. Surrendering doesn’t mean giving up, it means letting go of the outcome. Sometimes we hold on so tight to our idea of how the thing should look, that we miss it.

Where do goals come into it? I’ve written two blog posts about this; Setting goals and Using the Moon to set them. The connection between goals and manifestation is that when you set goals or make New Moon Wishes, then you manifest the result. When you set goals, you then take action on them, you break the goal down into steps that you can take to achieve the goal. When you make New Moon Wishes or set intentions, you then take inspired action on them. You take the steps needed to achieve the result you want. The result is the manifestation.

Everything that you want is on its way to you. All you need to do is ask and receive it.
