New Moon Eclipse in Libra

This week we have the New Moon Solar Eclipse at 6.54pm (BST) so I thought that would make an excellent topic for this week's blog.

I previously wrote a blog post all about Solar Eclipses that you can read here. This week's Solar Eclipse is an Annular Eclipse, otherwise known as a Ring of Fire!! Very exciting and unfortunately not visible from the UK!!

In this week’s blog, we will look at the Lunar Nodes, what they are, what they mean and also what this week’s eclipse looks like and how to work with this amazing energy.

Unlike the Sun, Moon and planets, the Lunar Nodes are mathematical points in a chart that are always opposite each other. They mark the point in the sky where the Sun and Moon cross paths, and we have an eclipse. They are also known as the Nodes of Fate or the Nodes of Destiny.

In astrology, we have the North Node and the South Node. Your North Node is said to be your destiny, the path you must follow to achieve happiness. Your South Node is your past lives, and the lessons you have already learned, and is where you feel most comfortable. We must learn to move from our comfort zone in the South Node, to learn the lessons we need to in this life, and fulfil our destiny (North Node).

When we have an eclipse, it will either be at the point of the North or South Node. When the eclipse is on the North Node it is a time of new opportunities and change. Remember that the North Node represents a new direction that we have to travel in. When the eclipse is on the South Node, it is time to let go of the past.

This New Moon Eclipse in Libra is on the South Node, so we are releasing the past, giving something up or maybe even just accepting something that we don’t like. Something to bear in mind as we move towards this eclipse is that just because this is the way things have always been done, doesn’t mean you have to continue to do them that way. Just because you feel safe and secure in your comfort zone, doesn’t mean there isn’t a whole new exciting experience waiting for you. If you want a different outcome, then sometimes you have to try a different approach. And if you have reached October and still haven’t made any progress on your goals for this year then maybe it’s time you stepped outside of your comfort zone and tried a new way of doing things.

New Moons are a new beginning, a chance to try again and recommit. With the New Moon in Libra, this will be a time to restart any relationships that really matter to you.

Libra is a Cardinal sign, these are the most goal-focused signs, which makes this New Moon an ideal time to recommit to your goals for the year, to see where you might have gotten off track, and to make plans for how you want to end this year.

As an Air sign, this makes Libra logical and balanced. They are able to see both sides of the situation, stay impartial and look to bring fairness, peace and justice into their lives and the lives of those around them. See where you need to compromise with others and resolve any disputes in your life.

Some of the themes associated with Libra include love and relationships, art, poetry and music, grace and refinement, socialising and partnerships. This is a great New Moon to organise an event or get together with friends and family. In business, this is an ideal time to start networking and making new connections.

To work with the energy of this New Moon in your life, take some time to appreciate the beauty around you. Bring fresh flowers into your home or redecorate a room. Create some art, go and look at art, or buy a painting for your home or office. Put on your favourite music and just get lost in the moment.

When making your New Moon Wishes and setting intentions, think about what you want to achieve in this cycle, over the course of the next 6 months, and before the end of the year. Where do you perhaps need to be more creative in your endeavours? Where are you being indecisive? Where do you feel out of balance?

This New Moon will hopefully be a time for clear thinking and clear communication. Be open to new ideas and new conversations. Mercury is here to give us all that lightbulb moment, don’t miss it by closing yourself off.

Pluto also wants a piece of the action in this New Moon and wants to take us to hidden places where we can uncover hidden truths. Be careful that you don’t get more than you bargained for.
