As I am in the process of stripping my business back to basics and why I started it in the first place, it made sense to me that this week’s blog post should be about Moonology™ as that is really where it all started.

Moonology is the practice of working with the magic of lunar cycles to create the life of your dreams consciously. You can empower every area of your life by using the moon as a cosmic timer and your own powers of manifestation. This isn’t just about adding to your life, it’s also about letting go of the things that no longer serve us to create new space. This is done through New Moon Wishes, Quarter Moon gratitude and Full Moon Forgiveness.

Why the moon? In astrology, the moon rules our emotions, our moods and our feelings. She is also feminine and represents women, mothers, witches and the Goddess. Other associations include cycles, habits, receptivity, home, needs, nurturing and the public. (This list is not exhaustive)

Moonology combines astrology with the Law of Attraction. Astrology is an ancient craft that has been around for two and a half thousand years. It comes from the Greek words Astra, which means stars, and Logica, which means to study. So, Astrology is the study of the stars, and Moonology is the study of the moon.

The Law of Attraction is one of 12 Universal Laws and states that like attracts like. Our thoughts, feelings words and actions all produce energies that attract like energies. It is a concept that was made popular by the book The Secret and is often misunderstood. The Law of Attraction is the law of manifestation.

When we manifest successfully, we do so through our feelings and from our hearts. This makes it important to make sure that we are at peace with our feelings. If we are holding onto anger or are upset, this stops us from manifesting. To be a clear channel to manifest, you have to let that stuff go.

When you manifest with the moon, we tune into the energy and frequency of the moon and use that to empower and improve your life. You also need to know in your heart what you want and communicate that clearly. Being vague or unsure will not bring you the results you seek.

The moon’s cycle lasts for 29 and a half days. This is how long it takes the moon to go through all 8 phases. The first half of the cycle is the waxing half, this is when the moon appears to grow from New Moon (not visible) to Full Moon. During these two weeks, we are setting intentions and moving forward. The focus is on the things you want more in your life and is the most productive part of the cycle. The second two-week period is the waning half when the moon appears to shrink from fullness to nothing (New Moon). This is when we release and forgive, surrender and let go. As the less productive time, this is when we remove the things we no longer need to create space for the things we wish to grow.

Working with the phases of the moon is the first step, and often the one that people miss. It’s all well and good to set your intentions on the New Moon, but if you don’t work with the whole cycle then you are missing some key points that will help you manifest.

Each phase lasts for around 3 and a half days and has a different energy and feel to it.

  • New Moon - start of the cycle, time to start new projects, set intentions and make New Moon Wishes

  • Waxing Crescent - time to start taking action, keep the faith, feel courageous and move forwards

  • First Quarter Moon - may experience doubts, problems may come up, important to keep going. Check in with yourself, are you taking inspired action?

  • Gibbous - Don’t give up, make changes as needed, build momentum and excitement

  • Full Moon - forgive to let go of pain and anger, surrender the outcome and fill yourself with gratitude.

  • Disseminating - accept that you are where you are and that is okay

  • Third Quarter Moon - what have you learned? What are you taking with you and what are you leaving behind?

  • Balsamic - live gently and breathe, self-care, are you ready to work on your dreams again?

The next layer is to look at the zodiac sign that each New and Full Moon falls in so that you can work with that energy. You can then personalise that by looking to see which house in your birth chart (area of your life) that moon will be illuminating for you.

As part of taking my business back to basics, I will be focusing on teaching about the phases of the moon and how to work with them, sharing about each sign's influence on the New and Full Moon, and offering Moonology readings so that you can add that personal layer.

I hope you have found this week’s blog helpful. Sometimes it is good to go back to basics and refresh your memory, you often relearn something you had forgotten.
