On Sunday (10th March) at 9.00 am (GMT) we have the New Moon in dreamy Pisces. This week’s blog will look at the energy around this New Moon and how you can work with it.

New Moons mark the start of a new lunar cycle. This is a time to set our intentions for the next 4 weeks, which will help us to achieve our goals. Generally, anything started under a New Moon should be completed by the Full Moon in the same sign. This gives us a 6-month container to work with. (The Full Moon in Pisces is on the 18th of September) When making New Moon Wishes, you can go as big or as small as you like. If you make a big wish, you can break it down into smaller, manageable goals. This allows you to track your progress as we move through each lunar cycle.

Not all New Moon’s are the same. They are flavoured by the zodiac sign that the Moon is in at the time and influenced by the other planets. A New Moon is always in the same sign as the Sun, giving us a double dose of the sign's energy to work with. This is why people work with this energy to set their goals.

Pisces is one of the four mutable signs, which follow the fixed signs and bridge the gap to the next cardinal sign. These are the more flexible signs which welcome change and adapt to it. Pisces has themes around imagination, spirituality and intuition, making it the ideal New Moon to visualise your goals and allow your intuition to guide your steps in achieving them.

As one of the three Water element signs, Pisces is emotional, sensitive, receptive, mystic and compassionate. This is the dreamer of the zodiac and they can be ungrounded as they float through life. This New Moon is a good time to look at your own grounding techniques and how you protect your own energy. Do you have good boundaries? Do you need to stand up for yourself more? Are you being kind to yourself?

When setting your Pisces New Moon intentions, we can use the themes and energy of this sign to help us. Here are some questions you can ask yourself to get the most from this energy.

  1. What is my intuition telling me?

  2. How can I trust myself more?

  3. How can I move closer to my dreams in the next 6 months?

  4. How can I have more compassion?

  5. Where do I need to set healthy boundaries?

  6. Where do I need to be more gentle?

There are also some practical ways that you can work with this New Moon. As a water sign, taking a bath, or being submerged in water. If you have always wanted to try cold water swimming then give it a go now. As a gentle energy, starting a yoga practice (or recommitting to one) is a great way to gently get your body moving, if cold water swimming doesn’t appeal to you. It’s all about finding ways to heal your mind, body and soul. Maybe for you, that is starting to meditate. As a kind and compassionate sign, asking for help where you need it and offering to help others are also great ways to work with the energy.

This New Moon is supported by Saturn and Neptune who are also in Pisces. Saturn is the planet of karma and life lessons, and while in Pisces we are encouraged to stick with things and not give up so easily. Neptune is the planet of both fantasy and deception, and while in Pisces we need to understand ourselves more deeply, look at the patterns we are repeating, and listen to our dreams and intuition more.

If you are looking to start a new job or get a promotion, then Saturn’s influence on this New Moon will support you there. This will also be a good New Moon for work situations in general and for creating more structure where you need it. Neptune would like us to forget the busy doing and just imagine being. This is an intuitive New Moon where we can set up spiritual intentions, start a dream journal, and set intentions to get more sleep, do more meditation, and be more creative.

Uranus would also like to join this New Moon party and is currently in Taurus. Uranus is the rebel and Taurus loves comfort so pay attention to your spending habits, and be more self-aware. Something exciting is happening. It’s time to shake things up and make some changes. We can expect the unexpected this New Moon. We need to break out of our regular old routines and start experimenting if we want things to change.

Jupiter makes everything seem possible and is also currently in Taurus warning us to watch our spending habits so we don’t overspend. Saturn and Jupiter are having a little chat, reminding us to go slow and steady.

We also have Mercury in Aries giving us new ideas along with big thinking, making it a time for taking intentional action. Mercury’s influence on Neptune is heightened intuition, which during a Pisces New Moon can only be a good thing.  Mars is currently in Aquarius where we will be positively challenged during this time for our advancement. Combined with Uranus this can be a reckless energy, so it’s important to slow down and make sure you are doing things in order and not skipping steps.

This New Moon is all about connecting more with your spiritual self, listening to your intuition and taking intentional action. We don’t have to go fast, slower is often better. “If you want something different, you are going to have to do something different” (Jack Canfield quote).

The Moon will be Void Of Course from 7.45 pm on Sunday so make sure you do your New Moon Wishes before then, or wait until Monday.
