On Sunday (15th December) at 9.01 am (GMT) we have the Cold Full Moon in curious Gemini. This Full Moon think about where you are allowing yourself to get caught up with the expected way of doing things, rather than thinking for yourself.

This week’s blog will look at the energy around this Full Moon, how you can work with it, and where it will fall in your chart.

December’s Full Moon is traditionally called the Cold Full Moon because of the frigid temperatures at this time of year. It is also known as the Long Night Moon because it is the closest Full Moon to the Winter Solstice and the longest night of the year. Either way, wrap up warm because it’s a little nippy out there!!

Full Moons mark the halfway point in a lunar cycle. This is a time to celebrate your progress and achievements, to practise forgiveness and to release anything still holding you back. If you look back to the New Moon in the same sign, 6 months ago, then you should have accomplished whatever you set out to do then. And if you haven't, then you should have a really good idea of why not.

The New Moon in Gemini was in June, what goals did you set then? What has stopped you from achieving them? Did you allow yourself to get distracted and focus on other things instead? If we want to achieve our goals then we have to stick to them and take consistent action. Full Moons are when we start to clear out the stuff we don’t need to create space for the things that we do want.

Not all Full Moon’s are the same. They are flavoured by the zodiac sign that the Moon is in at the time and influenced by the other planets. A Full Moon is always in the opposite sign as the Sun, giving us a tug-of-war between the energy of the two signs.

Under this Full Moon, we need to find a balance between wanting to know everything (Moon in Gemini) and really learning (Sun in Sagittarius).

Jupiter, the planet of growth, abundance and good luck, is standing alongside this Full Moon bringing an overflow of good feelings and a sense of joy. There will be a good chance of having an aha moment.

Jupiter is currently moving backwards through Gemini, giving us a period of slowing down and reflection. How do you take in information and learn? What are your thought processes like? How do you make decisions? Are you paying attention to what matters? These are great things to journal around under the Full Moon.

Neptune, the planet of dreams, inspiration and illusions is warning us about getting lost in fantasies and having difficulty discerning between reality and illusion. Try not to get swept up in the collective emotions.

Neptune is currently moving through Pisces, it’s retrograde at an end, so our intuition and creativity are being increased. Our compassion is also heightened during this time, so under the Full Moon remember to be kind to yourself.

It is also worth mentioning that Mercury Retrograde ends after the Full Moon, so this is also a great time to look at what you have learned and what changes you now want to make. This is the last Full Moon of the year, it’s time to start clearing all the stories, doubt and clutter that you don’t need to take with you into the New Year.

Gemini is one of the four mutable signs, which bridge the gap between the fixed signs and the next season. These are the most flexible signs, able to adapt to changing situations. They are the most open-minded, adaptable and go with the flow. Gemini has themes around communication, knowledge and versatility, making it an ideal Full Moon for looking at where you might struggle with communication. Are you able to express yourself fully? Can you express your emotions?

As one of the three Air element signs, Gemini is inquisitive, intelligent and knowledgeable. This is the student of the zodiac who wants to know everything but is also easily distracted. They can also be superficial, shallow and scattered, so during the Full Moon think about where you might be showing these less desirable traits.

When looking at what is holding you back that you need to release under the Gemini Full Moon, we can use the themes and energy of this sign to help us. Here are some questions you can ask yourself to get the most from this energy.

  1. What blocks to commitment do I have?

  2. Why can’t I communicate clearly?

  3. What stops me from being consistent?

  4. What stops me from feeling my emotions?

  5. Where am I being shallow?

  6. Where am I nervous

This Full Moon we want to be looking at the things we are telling ourselves. What is the narrative in your head? The stories that you are telling yourself? Are they helping you to achieve your dreams, goals and wishes? Or are they telling you all the reasons why you will fail?
