On Thursday (23rd May) at 2.52 pm (BST) we have the Flower Full Moon in adventurous Sagittarius. This week’s blog will look at the energy around this Full Moon and how you can work with it.

The Full Moon in May is called the Flower Moon because of the abundance of flowers at this time. Spring is in full swing and nature is coming alive!!

Full Moons mark the halfway point in a lunar cycle. This is a time to celebrate your progress and achievements, to practise forgiveness and to release anything still holding you back. If you look back to the New Moon in the same sign, 6 months ago, then you should have accomplished whatever you set out to do then. And if you haven't, then you should have a really good idea on why not.

The New Moon in Sagittarius was in November, what goals did you set then? What has stopped you from achieving them? Have you let fear hold you back? Full Moons are when we start to clear out the stuff we don’t need to create space for the things we do want.

Not all Full Moon’s are the same. They are flavoured by the zodiac sign that the Moon is in at the time and influenced by the other planets. A Full Moon is always in the opposite sign as the Sun, giving us a tug-of-war between the energy of the two signs.

Under this Full Moon, we need to find a balance between speaking your mind (Moon in Sagittarius) and saying too much (Sun in Gemini).

This Full Moon is sitting opposite Venus, Jupiter and Uranus, all of which are in Taurus. With Venus and Jupiter being so close together, be open to receiving the rewards of all your hard work. Full Moon’s are all about endings and culminations, this is when we harvest the fruits of our labour.

With the planet of love and abundance Venus, being opposite the Moon, it could be that something that displeases you in some way has happened, or will happen. Jupiter's influence here will show us where we may have gone too far. And Uranus is going to cause sudden endings and leave us with no choice but to go along with changes.

Neptune is also impacting on this Full Moon. Be careful not to get swept up in the collective emotions or lose yourself to fantasies. Neptune can make it difficult to discern between reality and illusion.

We also have the influence of Pluto, which could give us some positive breakthroughs in our understanding of why things are the way they are and what we can do to change them thanks to Pluto plugging us into our emotional power.

Sagittarius is one of the four mutable signs, which bridge the gap between the fixed signs and the start of a new season with the cardinal signs. These are the most flexible of the signs. They are adaptable, restless, communicative and are great at coming up with solutions. Sagittarius has themes around philosophy, adventure and truth-seeking, making it an ideal Full Moon for stepping back and looking at the bigger picture of your life. Have you been impatient, unrealistic or wasteful? Where do you need to release delusion, restlessness or recklessness?

As one of the three Fire element signs, Sagittarius is hopeful, cheerful, optimistic, understanding and a wanderer. This is the sign that loves to grow and expand, to discover more of life's mysteries and to understand themselves and their place in the world.

When looking at what is holding you back that you need to release under the Sagittarius Full Moon, we can use the themes and energy of this sign to help us. Here are some questions you can ask yourself to get the most from this energy.

  1. What blocks do I have around my personal growth?

  2. Why can I not experience abundance?

  3. Why don’t I listen to myself?

  4. Where do I need more trust?

  5. What stops me from experiencing more joy?

  6. Where am I not seeing the truth?

This Full Moon is a powerful time for opening yourself up to expansion and changes. Where have you been pushing yourself too hard or making things more complicated than they need to be?
